Achimenes glabrata - вид покрытосеменных цветковых растений из рода Ахименес (Achimenes) семейства Геснериевые (Gesneriaceae). Вид был впервые описан Джозефом Герхардом Цуккарини в 1894 году, а свое нынешнее название получил от Карла Фрича. Ареал обитания - Мексика. Представляет собой многолетнее травянистое растение с крупными белыми цветками, имеющими зубчатые или бахромчатые края лепестков. Венчик цветка и широкое золотисто-желтое горло украшено обильным мелким фиолетовым крапом. Листья средне-зеленые, неопушенные. Стебли высокие, прямостоячие, затем полегающие, лишенные опушения. Корневища продолговатые, бордовые. Распространение: Мексика (Герреро, Халиско, Мехико, Мичоакан, Наярит, Оахака, Синалоа). Синонимы: A. fimbriata, A. gloxiniiflora, Diastema gloxiniiflorum, Eumolpe fimbriata, Gloxinia fimbriata, G. gloxiniiflora, Plectopoma fimbriatum, P. glabratum, P. gloxiniiflorum, Sinningia gloxiniiflora.

Achimenes glabrata appears to have two forms; both have white flowers with a golden yellow throat, but one version has a pattern of fine purple spots over the central part of the corolla. The latter is the version pictured in antique prints from 1848 and 1849. The plant grows as a loose and somewhat scraggly trailer.

The founder, publisher and part-editor of this lavish Belgian periodical was Louis van Houtte, the propietor of the largest nursery of its time on the continent. It appeared monthly for almost 40 years and was published by his own printing office in the middle of the gardens, the Horto van Houtteano. All the plants shown were for sale in his nursery and include many exotics. The work is notable for the craftmanship of the Belgian lithographers Severeyns, Stroobant and De Pannemaker, who had mastered the art of colour-printing from stone.
