Aeschynanthus 'Big Apple' (B. Schwarz, 1984) This attractive and very floriferous hybrid of A. micranthus and A. humilis was created in the mid 1980s by Bartley Schwartz. It is capable of an incredible display of flowers on a generally upright or spreading plant. Although unlabeled, this appears to be a very nicely grown basket of A. ‘Big Apple’. This beautiful cascading plant has pointed pea green leaves with a downward curl at the end. Bright red small tubular flowers beginning in spring. Vibrant, deepest red tubular flowers are produced on semi-trailing green foliage. This hardy grower is heavy blooming, and spectacular.
