
Gesneria christii Urban. The flowers are small, simple, tubular with a swelling in the middle of the tube, orange-red with yellow throat. The leaves are large, elongated, narrow, wavy, serrate on the edge, initially light green, darkening with age, becoming heavily wrinkled and leathery. Shoots erect, forming a flat rosette of leaves, the plant heat-loving and very likes moisture. When grown in culture it grows well in areas with high humidity or in a specially equipped aquariums. Natural species, a native of the Dominican Republic and Haiti, which grows in the form of low-growing dwarf shrubs in moist, warm and shady places.
