

Kohleria Amabilis (Planch. & Linden) Fritsch. Natural species. Has two varieties: Kohleria amabilis var. amabilis и Kohleria amabilis var. bogotensis (syn. K. bogotensis). Large, about 5 cm, bright tubular flowers pubescent with pale throat, painted on the outside in an intense pink color. The inner surface of the petals light pink, richly decorated with dark crimson-red spots, the two upper petals may be a little darker. The leaves are about 10 cm long, ovate, velvety, toothed, dark green with silvery-grey dusting and with darker veins. Kohleria amabilis var. bogotensis has dark green leaves and tubular red-orange flowers painted on the inner surface of the petals in yellow tones with dark red spots. Flowering period extends from late winter through the spring and summer.
