Alsobia punctata (syn. Episcia punctata) Natural species. Fringed white blooms with a thick ring of maroon freckles surrounding a yellow throat. An upright, branching, grower with thick, serrated, gray-green leaves. A larger (but not large) grower than the others. A very ready bloomer and easy grower. Alsobia punctata is a creeping terrestrial perennial bearing elliptic to ovate, dark green leaves. Very similar to A. dianthiflora but has larger, rougher leaves. Alsobia is a genus of flowering plants in the family Gesneriaceae, native to Mexico, Guatemala and Costa Rica. The two species are succulent, stoloniferous herbs and were previously included in the genus Episcia. Recent molecular studies have supported the separation of Alsobia from Episcia.
